What is a Wireless Bridge?

A wireless bridge connects two or more remote data networks together. Wireless bridges use radio waves. Each building in a wireless network uses a wireless bridge, called a wireless LAN bridge. The wireless bridge is connected to an antenna. Network traffic designed for a computer in another building, is routed through the wireless LAN bridge. Wireless bridges provide a low-cost alternative to installing cable. These wireless bridges are often used when traditional wired LAN interconnections are impracticable.

A solution for connecting different LAN’s together is to use wireless bridges. These wireless bridges enable wireless LANs across the street to connect. Each wireless bridge is connected to one of the LAN sections. These wireless bridges redirect the traffic over the air to the correct destination.

Wireless bridges operate multiple networks in adjacent facilities. The wireless bridge enables Internet connection in one of them. These wireless bridges allow accessibility from a distance with line-of-sight antennas. Inexpensive access points previously bridged wired to wireless networks providing wireless laptops and computers access to the Internet via the access point. Wireless bridges connect hard-to-wire sites, temporary warehouses and satellite offices. Wireless LAN bridges enable the entire network to bridge to the Internet via the wireless hub.

Wireless bridge manufacturers utilize the latest in wireless technology and use state of the art components. Wireless bridge manufacturers provide exceptional performance and affordability for the new wireless bridge users.

  • The Linksys wireless bridge updated the firmware of their access point. This inexpensive wireless bridge allows this device to act as a wireless LAN bridge.

  • The SMC wireless bridge 2682W is the easiest alternative to a wired network. The wireless bridge delivers high rate data to the network. The wireless LAN bridge allows personnel in a corporate campus area to access local and remote network resources. This SMC wireless bridge is cost-effective and this wireless bridge eliminates cabling and leased lines that are difficult to install. This SMC wireless LAN bridge, designed to connect two separate networks is fast and reliable. This wireless bridge connects to the Ethernet backbone, and the wireless bridge supports point-to-point or point-to-multi-point network configurations. This wireless bridge provides seamless connectivity to the existing Ethernet network.

  • Cisco’s Aironet wireless bridge released a free firmware modification 8.55 of the software to correct its wireless bridge vulnerability. The Cisco wireless bridge allowed an intruder to connect to the bridge via wireless or wired Ethernet. This wireless bridge configuration could be viewed or modified before the firmware release. No other Cisco wireless products are affected.

  • 3Com wireless bridge makes building multi wireless networks simple and cost effective.

  1. (Ii) The 3com wireless bridge is affordable and simple to install.

  2. (ii) 3com wireless bridge provides a solution that doesn’t need expensive cabling when businesses and educational institutions are faced with temporary facilities.

  3. (iii) The simplicity of the 3com wireless bridge enables organizations to implement wireless access over large distances without incurring huge expense.

  4. (iv) The 3com wireless bridge provides building-to-building access for education and healthcare, airport, construction and many other environments needing wireless LAN bridges.

  5. (v) These 3com wireless bridges allow multipoint connectivity options.

  6. (vi) These wireless bridges use multiple antennas for distance transmission that makes these wireless bridges highly-configurable and easy to manage.

  7. (vii) The 3com wireless bridge supports 40 and 128 bit WEP for customer information protection.
